God is in All Things.
All things are part of God.
Therefore, all things are equal.
When you consider the parts of your body, do you say, “My
arm is greater than my leg?” Probably
not. Is your big toe worth more to you
than your elbow? We don’t generally go
there with our thoughts, yet, when we consider the parts of the body of God,
with all people, plants, minerals and animals being part of that body, we tend
to value ourselves and the things closest to us as being better, greater than
other things. Perhaps it is this kind of
thinking that allows us to litter, take minerals from the earth, pollute our
water, and feel prejudiced against people with differing opinions.
Loving God means loving all of creation. It doesn’t matter what or who we come into
contact, we must accept that all things being equal, we owe our love to all
things. Perhaps this is a difficult
concept to understand. Perhaps those of
us who are in awe of nature as we travel from place to place, have a deeper
understanding of how this is possible.
To free ourselves from the feeling of superiority, we must
truly relate to the energy of other beings and objects. Think about it. All things are a part of God. All Things.
If you wish to focus on the idea that God is a man in the sky with a
long, white beard, you are going to be frustrated with this idea. This may have served well when you were a
child, but as an adult, it behooves you to acknowledge that the Universe is
God. All Things are part of God.
If we understand that we are the same as a rock, not only
another human, we begin to value all life, no matter how different from
ourselves. Because energy, life, is in
all things, we can learn to value those who agree with us, as well as, those
who oppose us. If we let loose of the
notion that we are better than others, worth more, valued more, we will truly
come to understand the concept of equality.
Are men more valuable than women. No.
Are people more valuable than plants?
No. Are animals more valuable
than rocks? No. You are beginning to see that all things have
value, even though we all have different functions in the universe. My arm does something different than my
leg. My foot and my hand are different,
but each serves its purpose. A rock
serves different functions than a cow.
The rock still has value. How
much value is determined by our belief.
Now that we understand that all things are valued the same,
we must come to look at our beliefs. All
people being equal, one person’s beliefs are not better than another’s. We each have a concept of our Truth. The important thing is that we remind
ourselves that what we believe does not put us closer to God, or place us in
greater proximity to Reality.
Your happiness with your place in the world may depend upon
your understanding of this point.
May you be richly blessed.
